A post-mortem examination on a man found dead at his home in West Sussex on Christmas Day found he died from hanging, police have said.

The body of Jan Tshabalala, 33, was found at the house in Groomsland Drive, Billingshurst, at about 09:00 GMT.

The cause of death of his wife, Julia, 30, whose body was also found at the property, is still being investigated.

The couple's two children, aged six and four, are not believed to have been at home at the time.

'Tragic case'

Sussex Police said they were currently being cared for by relatives.

Det Chief Insp Paul Rymarz said the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

"This is a tragic case and our thoughts are very much with the family," he said.

"We would welcome information from anyone who may have had contact with either person in the days before their deaths which may help to shed light on this case."
