Sussex death crash lorry man cleared of dangerous driving charge

A lorry driver has been cleared of causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal crash in Sussex.

Andrew May, 45, of Doncaster, was found not guilty at Chichester Crown Court, having earlier admitted causing death by careless driving.

May's lorry crashed into a Vauxhall Zafira on the A27, fatally injuring passenger Ernest Humphrey, 79.

Mr Humphrey was flown to hospital in Southampton following the crash on 25 July 2013, but died five days later.

May, of Truro Avenue, is due to be sentenced on 20 February in connection with the crash, which happened between Hangleton and Holmbush.
