A man has died after the car he was driving hit a tree and left the road, landing in a West Sussex field.

The grey Ford Focus was found in a field next to the B2110 near Truckers Ghyll, Handcross, at 11:20 GMT.

The driver of the car died at the scene and may have been there for several hours, Sussex Police said.

The B2110 was closed for some time after the crash, which is thought to have occurred late last night or in the early hours, police said.
