A man has been shot and injured by three men who "targeted" his home and fired a gun through the front door.

The 39-year-old victim is being treated for a non life-threatening shotgun wound following the attack at his flat in Elmore Road, Brighton, on Tuesday.

Armed police officers were called to the scene at 23:25 GMT, but the suspects had fled.

Det Ch Insp Paul Rymarz said: "We are now confident this was a targeted attack."

Sussex Police said it was thought to have been an isolated attack and residents should not be alarmed.

House-to-house inquiries are being conducted in the area and anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity, vehicles or people in Elmore Road, is asked to contact Sussex Police.
