Man charged over Worthing pedestrian crash death

A man has been charged with causing the death of an 87-year-old woman who died after she was hit by a car in Worthing.

Eileen Scott was struck near the junction of Dominion Road and Southdown View Road on 31 July.

Richard Godfrey, of Blackthorns, Hurstpierpoint is charged with causing her death by careless driving.

The 51-year-old is further charged with causing death by driving while unlicensed and uninsured, and driving with uncorrected defective eyesight.

Mr Godfrey will appear at Worthing Magistrates' Court on 10 March.

Ms Scott died in hospital on 2 August.
