Young girls approached on way to school in Worthing

Young girls on their way to school were approached on two separate occasions by men in Worthing.

Police said at 08:20 GMT on Wednesday a man put his hand on the shoulder of a nine-year-old girl as she walked with a 12-year-old in High Street, Tarring. Both girls fled to school.

On Friday a girl, 12, had her path blocked in an alleyway by a man who tried to speak to her at 08:40, between High Street and Bellview Road.

A woman stopped and led the girl away.

The first man, covered his face, but was described as white, thin, and wearing black shoes, a black hooded top and black trousers.

The second man was described as being in his late 60s or early 70s.

He had grey thinning hair and was wearing a red knee-length coat and beige trousers. He had two front bottom teeth.

Police said they have increased patrols in the area.
