A paraglider has been rescued after crashing into a cliff in East Sussex.

The man was left hanging about 20ft (6m) above Newhaven West Beach after his chute became stuck on the cliff on Sunday.

A member of the coastguard team was lowered down to help stabilise the paraglider and free the stricken pilot. The RNLI, which helped with the rescue, said he had a "lucky escape".

The man was winded and suffering from shock but was otherwise unhurt.
