A man has been sentenced to 20 years in jail for a "frightening attack" on a couple last year.

Daniel Harris, 39, of no fixed address, shot at a vehicle in Broadfield, Crawley, while the pair were inside, Sussex Police said.

Harris was found guilty of attempted murder; possessing a shotgun with intent to cause fear of violence; assault and criminal damage.

He denied all four charges but was found guilty following a trial in Hove.

The 31-year-old female passenger suffered a burst ear drum in the incident, while the man was uninjured.

Police believe the shooting happened as a result of an argument between the two men.

Det Ch Insp Rachel Carr said: "This was a violent and frightening attack on an innocent couple who feared for their lives.

"The incident took place in a densely-populated area of Crawley and I think we are lucky no-one was seriously injured."
