Youths' £50k activities fund plea in Hartlepool

More than £50,000 of funding is still available for youth activities in Hartlepool, it has been revealed.

Youth workers are urging young people in the area to make a bid for the money before the end of March 2011.

The Youth Opportunity Fund for Hartlepool is administered by Hartlepool Youth Service.

The money must be used to provide activities for those aged 13-19 and applications for grants must come from the young people themselves.

The applications are considered by a Grant Givers Panel made up of young citizens from across Hartlepool.

Youth support worker Sam Minton said: "These grants could make all the difference to getting a project or an event off the ground, but time is running out to make a bid for some of the cash.

'Good idea'

"If you are aged 13-19, live in Hartlepool and have a good idea, we'd love to hear from you.

"You might have a proposal for a special event, for example, or to run sports sessions.

"Alternatively, you might be looking to buy some equipment or furniture for a youth group or to pay for materials for art and craft sessions."

People have until the end of March 2011 to apply.
