Hartlepool village tackles speeders with 20mph signs

A Teesside village is to become a 20mph speed zone to try and slow down traffic.

Vehicle-activated electronic speed signs and additional road markings will also be introduced in Greatham, on the outskirts of Hartlepool.

Hartlepool Council is to spend £15,000 on the scheme and will carry out a traffic survey in six months time to see whether it has worked.

Plans for speed bumps have been put on hold after a public consultation.
