Seaton Carew sea defences set for £2m revamp

A £2m project to repair damaged sea defences on the Teesside coast has been approved by council bosses.

Work on the stretch of coast at Seaton Carew, near Hartlepool, is expected to start next month.

The scheme will include the upgrade of 1,500ft (457m) of rock defences at the existing sea wall between the Staincliffe Hotel and Station Lane.

Small sections of the beach will be closed between April and September while the work is carried out.

Funding for the project has come from the Environment Agency.
