Man critically injured in attack in Bishop Auckland

A man suffered life-threatening injuries in an attack in County Durham.

The 42-year-old was found on the pavement outside the Beehive pub in Bishop Auckland on Saturday night.

He was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital, then transferred to Middlesbrough's James Cook Hospital. His condition is described as critical.

Police are appealing for information. They are particularly keen to speak to a man and woman seen talking to the man outside the pub at about 2300 BST.
