Security awards for Hartlepool car parks

Four more car parks in Hartlepool town centre have received security awards.

It means that 98% of all pay and display parking in the town centre is covered by Park Mark, a national accreditation scheme.

To receive the award, car parks must have effective surveillance, good lighting, and be well maintained.

A council spokeswoman said she looked forward to the day when the town had 100% Park Mark coverage.

The scheme is run by the British Parking Association on behalf of the Association of Chief Police Officers, and aims to reduce crime and the fear of crime in car parks.
