Six people injured in 'unprovoked attack' in Redcar

Six people have been injured in what police have described as an unprovoked assault on Teesside.

A 41-year-old man was approached by an unknown man outside the Royal Standard pub in Redcar on Saturday night. He punched him, breaking his jaw.

People nearby attempted to prevent him being attacked further, and five more people were injured. A 29-year-old man had his leg broken.

The attacker then drove off in a silver coloured car.

He is described as about 5ft 9ins tall, of slim build, and possibly in his early 20s.

Cleveland Police said initial investigations indicated that the attack was completely unprovoked, and appealed for witnesses.
