Patrols to tackle Darlington school-leaver disorder

Extra police officers will be patrolling the streets of Darlington over the next three Fridays to keep school-leavers in check.

Operation Keylargo is designed to tackle street drinking and associated anti-social behaviour.

It follows previous problems at this time of year when year 11 pupils complete their exams and finish school.

Dedicated officers will be responsible for dealing with complaints about youths causing a nuisance.

A police spokesman urged parents to make arrangements for their sons and daughters to celebrate in a "supervised environment".

He added: "Any youths we find in possession of alcohol will have their bottles and cans seized and disposed of. Their parents will also be contacted to collect them."
