Cat deliberately burned in Carlinhowe has leg removed

A Teesside cat which was deliberately burned with a lighter and cigarette has had to have its leg amputated.

Tiny, the two-year-old black cat, returned to her home in Carlinhowe, last month with severe burns.

Cleveland Police believe the pet was deliberately held down and had a cigarette stubbed out on her. Officers want to find the culprits.

After a month-long stay at a vet's costing £1,500 Tiny has had to have her leg removed because it was not healing.

PC Richard Bailey, of Cleveland Police, said: "This was a savage attack on a defenceless animal which was left badly injured and has unfortunately had to have a leg amputated.

"The owners have been left upset and shocked by what their pet cat has been subjected to.

"If anyone has any information that could help this investigation I would urge them to contact police."
