Woman killed in A19 HGV crash near Hartlepool identified

A County Durham woman who died when her car crashed into a parked lorry on the A19 on Teesside has been identified.

Margaret Clay was travelling in her Vauxhall Corsa with her 15-year-old daughter Laura when the crash happened near Hartlepool on Sunday.

Police said the articulated lorry was parked in a lay-by near to Ron Perrys Garage at the time of the crash.

Mrs Clay, 42, of South Hetton, worked as a secretary and was a mother of two. Her daughter suffered minor injuries.

A Cleveland Police spokesman said: "Mrs Clay suffered serious injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"The 57-year-old occupant of the HGV was uninjured."
