Arson attack at St Pius RC School in Middlesbrough

Primary school pupils have been left without toys and learning equipment after an arson attack on a summerhouse used as an outdoor classroom.

The wooden structure at Middlesbrough's St Pius Roman Catholic School in Amersham Road was completely destroyed in the blaze on Sunday afternoon.

An adjoining brick shed containing much of the equipment was badly damaged.

Cleveland Police said no-one was hurt, but pupils had been left "heartbroken" by the attack.
