Illegally parked drivers in Eston face £70 fine

Drivers who park on pavements and double yellow lines in a Teesside town face being given a £70 fixed penalty.

Residents and traders in Eston have raised concerns about pavements being blocked and other inconsiderate parking.

Redcar and Cleveland Council will run a five-week operation targeting the High Street, West Street, William Street and Gladstone Street.

There will be more patrols by community protection officers in the town.

Eston councillor, Steve Goldswain, said: "I have had reports of inconsiderate motorists parking on double yellow lines and blocking pavements which has, in turn, caused obstructions for parents with pushchairs, as well as people in wheelchairs."
