Newton Aycliffe street brawl stabbing man bailed

A man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a street brawl stabbing has been bailed.

Police arrested the 21-year-old after a man, 27, suffered serious injuries during a fight between two groups of people in Alston Walk, Newton Aycliffe.

He has since been released on bail pending further inquiries, Durham Police confirmed. The victim was said to be seriously ill but "stable."

A 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of affray has also been bailed.
