Middlesbrough cycleway warning to pedestrians

Pedestrians who walk on a popular cycle route in Middlesbrough have been warned they risk serious injury.

More than 220 journeys are made daily by cyclists on a stretch of Marton Road, between Ladgate Lane and The James Cook University Hospital.

But Middlesborough Council said an increasing number of pedestrians were also using the designated path, leading to hold ups and the risk of accident.

The council said those who have to walk on the path must give way to cyclists.
