A military policeman from Bishop Auckland who lost his life in Iraq has been remembered.

Company Sergeant Major Colin Wall, 34, from Crawleyside, County Durham, was killed during a gun attack in central Basra on 23 August 2003.

Sgt Maj Wall was a husband and a father of three children.

Army Deputy Provost Marshal, Colonel Dudley Giles, visited Stanhope during a cycle ride of remembrance for 22 military policemen.

Col Giles said he was riding for the "tight-knit, regimental family who were hit hard".
