Women's clothes spark Marske false alarm sea search

Abandoned clothes on a Teesside beach sparked a false alarm sea search.

The pile of women's clothes were found between Marske and Saltburn on Saturday and police and the Redcar RNLI carried out an inshore and cliff-top search.

After half an hour police traced the owner and discovered the clothes had been left after a party the previous night.

RNLI spokesman Dave Cocks said the crew took false alarms in "good spirits".

He said: "We get false alarms from time to time. We only spent half an hour searching and take things like that in good spirits."
