Sheltered housing upgrade in Darlington

A £2.4m refurbishment scheme at sheltered housing in Darlington is to be officially unveiled.

All 32 flats in Windsor Court, on Newton Lane, have been re-wired and had new kitchens and bathrooms installed.

Ali Johnson, of Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), will officially unveil the new-look complex on Friday.

Darlington Council is now planning to refurbish Rockwell House and Ted Fletcher Court sheltered homes by 2013.

The Windsor Court development also includes a new seating area, coffee bar and sun room, as well as new garden water features.
