Seven held in drug raids in Teesside and Northumberland

Seven people have been arrested and a property is being searched in Spain after drug raids by police across the North East of England.

Four men and a woman, aged between 24 and 43, from Northumberland and Teesside, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

Two other men, aged 40 and 60, from Teesside, were arrested on suspicion of obtaining money by fraud.

A property in Los Alcazares, Spain, is also being searched by officials.

A number of documents and a substantial amount of cash was also seized in the raids.

Nine search warrants were carried out in Bedlington, Newbiggin, Stockton, Thornaby and Ormesby.

The arrests were part of a long-running investigation into the suspected supply of controlled drugs.
