Car driver arrested over death of cyclist near Stockton

A 73-year-old man has been arrested over the death of a 74-year-old cyclist on Teesside.

The cyclist, who has not yet been named, and the car collided near Fox Hill Farm on Darlington Back Lane, Stockton, at about 14:25 GMT on Friday.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said the 73-year-old car driver had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

No-one else was hurt. The 73-year-old was later released on police bail.

Both the cyclist and the car were heading towards Stockton from Sadberge when the incident happened.
