Uniform taken from Durham Police car in Bishop Auckland

Items of uniform have been stolen from a police car in County Durham.

The marked vehicle was parked on Hereford Street in Bishop Auckland on Monday evening while the female officer was dealing with an incident.

While unattended it was broken into and her police-issue high visibility jacket and officer's hat taken.

Durham Police is urging people to report anybody seen wearing these items of police uniform if there are any doubts regarding their identity.

If in doubt, they should ask the wearer to produce their warrant card to confirm their identification.
