Damage caused to pigeon crees in Durham allotment fires

About £3,000 of damage has been caused in an arson attack at a Durham allotment.

Two pigeon crees - a type of hut - were set on fire at the allotments on Quilstyle Road in the Wheatley Hill area of County Durham.

It happened at about 20:30 GMT on Monday.

The owners have said 65 birds are missing, but it is unknown if they flew away or died in the fire. Some birds have returned since the arson attack.
