Man denies throwing eggs at MP Sir Stuart Bell

A man has denied throwing eggs at an MP at a Remembrance Sunday parade.

Terry Dixon, 54, from Liverton Avenue, Middlesbrough, is accused of assaulting the town's veteran Labour MP Sir Stuart Bell on 13 November.

The community activist was restrained by Middlesbrough mayor Ray Mallon following the incident until police arrested him.

Mr Dixon has been granted conditional bail until his trial at Teesside Crown Court on 13 February.
