Green light for Seaton Carew £5m development plan

Multi million-pound plans to develop a seaside town have been given the green light by councillors on Teesside.

The £5m proposal for four sites in Seaton Carew is aimed at attracting tourists and businesses, and includes housing and leisure facilities.

Hartlepool Council has appointed Esh Group as the preferred developer.

Mayor Stuart Drummond said the council would be speaking to local people to find out what they want.

Mr Drummond added: "Seaton traditionally has always been a tourist attraction, but like most seaside towns in Britain it's suffered a decline in recent decades.

"What we will try to look at is regenerating Seaton so its an area that people want to come to for a day or two days for a visit."
