Bishop Auckland revamp given further funding boost
The revamp of a County Durham town is to be extended thanks to an extra £50,000.
The area around the Market Place, in Bishop Auckland, is being restored in a three-year programme.
Durham County Council's Urban Rural Renaissance Initiative team has been given £50,000 from the Local Transport Plan Two.
The work will now also cover an area on the edge of Market Place in front of the Queen's Head Hotel and Monaco Bar.
The project has involved better pedestrian access and improved seating.
The latest stage will start in January and will take about eight weeks.
