School reopens after £12.5m refurbishment

A Hartlepool school has reopened after a £12.5m refurbishment.

Dyke House Sports and Technology College was one of the last to be awarded funding from the Building School's for the Future programme.

More than a quarter of the school has been completely rebuilt and new sports, IT and science facilities have also been added.

Headteacher Andrew Jordan said the new school helped to give continuity to the children's education.

Mr Jordan said: "The new school is really designed for the schools within a school system that we operate. It allows five different schools to operate together which allows students to stay within their schools."
