Middlesbrough Council awarded £92,000 to warm homes

A Teesside council has been awarded £92,000 to help keep vulnerable people warm over the winter months.

Middlesborough Council will spend the money on minor boiler repairs, emergency snow clearing and a hot-meals service.

The grant was awarded by the Department of Health which wants to reduce the number of people dying in cold homes.

A council spokesman said the grant would be spent on its most vulnerable residents living in "fuel poverty".
