Hartlepool man, 68, jailed for grooming school girl

A Hartlepool man has been jailed for six years for grooming a school girl and indecency with a child.

Kenneth Bate, 68, of Arnold Grove in the town started grooming the girl for sex when she was 12 and continued over a two-year period.

Bate denied the charges but was found guilty of five charges including indecent assault.

He was sentenced at Teesside Crown Court and banned from working with children.
