Saltburn Pier sea rescue men to be honoured at ceremony

Four men who helped save a man who showed no signs of life at Saltburn Pier will be commended in a ceremony on Thursday.

Leon Allison, 23, Michael Morton, 24, Mark Newton, 47 and Eoin Carroll, 30, all helped the man when he got into difficulty in the sea.

The men, along with police officers, helped the man in his 20s back to shore and gave him CPR in November 2010.

The man was in a coma for two weeks but has since made a full recovery.
