Plans for £6m Darlington housing revamp

Plans to invest £6m to improve council housing in Darlington have been unveiled.

Darlington Borough Council said despite financial pressures, it had secured the funding.

It will include improving the Lifeline service for older or vulnerable tenants and cosmetic and heating improvements.

The plans, which it said would help it maintain energy efficiency targets and disability standards, go before the council's cabinet on Tuesday.

The £6m will come from housing revenue, funding from the Department of Communities and Local Government and the sale of council housing under the right to buy scheme.
