Probe into fire death at Brierton Allotments in Hartlepool

Police are investigating the death of a man in a fire at a Teesside allotment.

The man, who has not been named but was in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene of the blaze in Hartlepool on Wednesday.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said emergency services were called to a shed at Brierton Allotments in the town at 11:50 GMT.

Fire investigators from the Cleveland brigade are assisting the investigation. No-one else was hurt.
