County Durham car tree crash victim named as Dean Ryder

A 21-year-old man who was killed when his vehicle left the road and hit a tree in County Durham has been named.

Dean Ryder of Jasmine Crescent, Trimdon Station, was killed when his Rover 25 crashed on Gypsy Lane at about 02:45 GMT on Sunday.

Durham Police believe he "lost control" of the car while taking a bend near the A689 at Bradbury, when he left the carriageway and hit a tree.

A man, also 21, from Trimdon Grange who was in the car suffered a back injury.

He remains in Darlington Memorial Hospital.
