Scheme boosts River Tees water quality

A £2.4m scheme will be carried out to improve water quality in the River Tees.

The seven-month Northumbrian Water scheme will start in September and will involve work between Acklam Road and Lanehouse Road, Thornaby.

It will involve upgrading a combined sewer overflow, which is designed to prevent flooding.

A screen will be fitted to prevent debris from getting into the River Tees during heavy rainfall.

The work will start on 3 September and an information session will be held on Tuesday at Thornaby Cricket Club.
