An investigation is under way on Teesside after a man died following a fall on board a ship.

The 59-year-old man fell about 30ft (9.14m) onto the steel deck of a ship at Irvine's Quay in Hartlepool on Sunday evening.

He was airlifted to Middlesbrough's James Cook University Hospital, but later died. His name has not yet been released.

The Health and Safety Executive is carrying out inquiries.
