Man, 19, killed in Sedgefield two-car collision

A 19-year-old man has been killed in a two-car collision on the A689 in Sedgefield.

Dominic Scarre, from Finchale, Durham, was a passenger in a Peugeot 406. A 32-year-old woman, from Willington, was treated for shock.

The driver of a Ford Transit Dropside Tipper, a 27-year-old man from Meadowfield, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Durham Police said Mr Scarre died at the scene of the accident which happened at 07:50 BST.

Police want to speak to a witness whose Peugeot broke down on the A689.
