A book of condolence has been opened in memory of MP Sir Stuart Bell.

The 74-year-old senior Labour backbencher and Middlesbrough MP died after a short battle with pancreatic cancer last weekend.

He had been the town's MP for almost 30 years and was honoured with a knighthood in 2004 for services to Parliament.

The book will be in the reception area of Middlesbrough town hall, until Sir Stuart's funeral on 27 October.
