Warning over roundabout closures in Hartlepool

Work on the Burn Valley roundabout in Hartlepool means it will be closed to traffic over the next three Sundays.

The work will take place on 4, 11 and 18 November, closing the busy route from 06:00 to 20:00 GMT.

The £275,000 scheme that began in October involves re-modelling the roundabout to make it wide enough for two lanes.

The road around the roundabout is being rebuilt with new pedestrian crossing islands being installed.

Three approach roads - York Road, Blakelock Gardens and Stockton Road (the stretch running down to Belle Vue Way) - are being widened to help reduce queuing at busy times.

Signposted diversions will be in place during the works.

The work is being funded with government money through the Tees Valley Bus Network Improvement Fund and Hartlepool Council's Local Transport Plan.
