Crook woman Gwenda Ward killed as tricycle hits wall

A woman was killed when her motorised tricycle hit a wall in County Durham.

Gwenda Ward, 59, from Crook, was travelling on the A689, near Bishop Auckland when the vehicle veered across the carriageway.

It struck the parapet of the Newton Cap Viaduct and overturned. Ms Ward suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Durham Police has appealed for witnesses to the crash at about 13:00 BST on Monday.
