Murder arrest over fatal Hartlepool house blaze

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a fatal house fire in Hartlepool.

Andrew Simon, 44, died at North Tees General Hospital after the fire in Dent Street on 11 June.

Cleveland Police said a 35-year-old man from Hartlepool was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

A woman, 40, was arrested son after the blaze on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and bailed.

A police spokesman said two addresses in the town's Rium Terrace and Furness Street had been searched as part of the inquiry.
