Eldon Lane Working Men's Club shooting: Man charged

A 24-year-old man has been charged in connection with a shooting outside a social club in County Durham.

Shots were fired from a green Subaru which pulled up outside Eldon Lane Working Men's Club in Bishop Auckland at 21:20 BST on Saturday, police said.

A man and woman in their 30s were injured. They were taken to hospital and later discharged.

A man has been charged with two counts of wounding, possession of an imitation firearm and driving offences.

He is due to appear before Peterlee Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Five other men aged 18 to 25 who were previously arrested, have been bailed pending further inquiries.
