A former police officer accused of sexual offences previously admitted raping a different woman seven times, a court has heard.

Wayne Scott, 37, of HMP Armley, denies rape, attempted rape and sexual assault at Newcastle Crown Court.

Jurors heard the former Cleveland Police officer pleaded guilty to raping another woman over a number of years.

The court also heard he had told police he could "say it proud" that he never raped the alleged victim in this trial.

The jury was also told he referred to himself as "highly sexed" in interviews with police.

The trial continues.
