Guisborough's Laurence Jackson School earmarked for arts centre

A school in Guisborough is the preferred site for a new community arts centre.

Redcar and Cleveland Council is considering four sites, but has revealed Laurence Jackson School is the favourite location.

A council spokesman said Guisborough had "a thriving cultural scene" and the site was "the most cost-effective and sustainable option".

Plans will be discussed by the council's cabinet on 28 January.

He added they were "keen to ensure that any new facility offers value for money and can accommodate a variety of performance organisations".

"The council has worked extremely hard to find suitable sites with our preferred option being the creation of a community hub at the Laurence Jackson School site," the spokesman added.
