Benji Bolsenbroek death 'not linked to violence'
The death of a man after a night out to celebrate the birth of his son is not being being linked to a disturbance in a pub.
Benji Bolsenbroek, 23, died after trouble at the Park Hotel pub in Middlesbrough on 6 October.
Forensic examinations have now shown his "unexplained" death was not linked with the incident, police said.
Sixteen people face charges of violent disorder in connection with the disturbance.
The five women and 11 men will appear before Teesside Magistrates' Court on 11 and 12 February.
In a statement, Mr Bolsenbroek's family said: "We believe as a family that there is a causal link between Benji's death, and the disturbance that took place that night, and this significant query is still pending investigations.
"Our loss for Benji is very profound. We are working with the police and the experts to seek justice for Benji."
A spokesman for Cleveland Police said: "There is a criminal trial pending along with a coroner's inquest to be held, therefore we cannot comment further until these matters have been dealt with."
