Electricity has been restored to all of the homes across Teesside cut off by storm damage to lines and pylons.

More than 60,000 properties across the North East and Yorkshire lost power when winds stronger than the 50-55mph (80-88km/h) power lines can withstand swept across the region.

Northern Powergrid said extra staff had "worked tirelessly", often in "pretty dangerous conditions".

It thanked customers for their patience during the outage.

With further bad weather forecast, East Coast trains said it was "carefully watching" the forecast for wind and rain and asked passengers to check before travelling.
